LEED-certified homes are endorsed by the U. S. Green Building Council and guarantee that the home has been inspected by a third party and certified as a legitimate green home that will perform better than standard homes.

Some healthy homes also use alternative sources of energy like the sun, wind, geothermal energy and biomass to further reduce their effect on the environment. Far fewer natural resources are used in the construction of healthy homes where rapidly renewable materials such as bamboo, hemp, agrifibers and soybean-based products are often used.
